2 oz. Rye Whiskey
3/4 oz. sweet vermouth
2 teaspoons Heering cherry liqueur
1/2 teaspoon absinthe
Stir with plenty of ice & strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
First round I tried Rittenhouse 100, but the high proof just clobbered the cherry and absinthe beyond all recognition. Using the “Baby” Sazerac resulted in a much more balanced drink. I think I’ll be saving the Rittenhouse 100 for Manhattans. And evenings when I need kick in the teeth…
